Why we're building this
My father died from a condition that should have been caught.
Nuri Health was born from loss. After my father passed from a condition that went undiagnosed for too long, I came to understand something painfully clear about the American healthcare system: it is fundamentally dysfunctional. Tens of millions of Americans simply cannot get the care they need — whether because of cost, coverage gaps, or wait times.
Meanwhile, South Korea has built one of the most effective and efficient healthcare systems in the world. Americans would benefit enormously from access to it. As a Korean-American who served as a U.S. Army officer in Iraq and near the DMZ in Korea, I am uniquely positioned to build the trusted bridge between our two countries.
Before building this platform, I traveled to Seoul and went through the full screening process myself. I wanted to experience exactly what our patients would experience and understand what it truly means to place your trust in a healthcare provider overseas. That experience made this mission personal, and it's why we're building Nuri with transparency, care, and trust at the center of everything we do.
